Why You Should Detox at Least Twice A Year

PUBLISHED

Toxins are harmful substances derived from food, water, cleaning products, and other environmental sources that we are exposed to regularly. An accumulation of toxins may become poisonous in the human body, which may lead to potential damage to vital organs and systems. Considering that these toxins enter our body by ingestion (preservatives, additives, and food contamination), inhalation (pollutants in the air we breathe) and absorption (through skin and eyes), the risk of toxic overload is a common concern. Internally, autointoxication is the process where the toxins are produced by your own body as a result of poor digestion and elimination.

Cleansing or detoxing essentially refers to the filtering and removal of these toxic compounds from the body. Although our bodies detoxify naturally each and every day, in today’s modern world we are constantly exposed to toxins which can cause our bodies to become overloaded and unable to sufficiently detoxify. The environmental toxins we are exposed to include plastic residues, solvents, cleaning products, beauty products, engine fumes and air pollution.

In addition, the typical Western diet is largely made up of processed foods and refined carbohydrates that can hugely congest our systems. I’m sure you try to eat well most of the time, but even basic healthy foods can be nutrient depleted and contain pesticide residues.

Under these circumstances, our body’s detoxification ability is hindered and unable to efficiently cleanse the tissues and organs, which can cause an imbalance in the body.

Common symptoms of toxic overload include:

  • Coated tongue
  • Dark circles around the eyes
  • Headaches
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Constipation
  • Flatulence
  • Belching
  • Skin rashes and/or hives
  • Allergies
  • Red itchy eyes
  • Frequent infections
  • Inability to lose weight
  • Fatty liver
  • Indigestion

Due to this regular toxin exposure, it is ideal to do a Cleanse a minimum of twice a year. Cleansing twice a year prevents critical mass toxin overload and can reduce the risk of cancer and obesity.

Best time to Detox

Popular times to do a Cleanse are Spring and Autumn. Spring cleansing gets your body confident for Summer while Autumn cleansing prepares your body for the cooler temperatures when metabolism tends to slow down. An Autumn Cleanse also has the added benefit of reducing winter weight gain and sluggishness. In saying that, there is no magic number for how often you should cleanse, and some people prefer to do a cleanse every 3 months to keep their liver and gut toxin load down. The logic behind doing a cleanse every quarter or 3 months is that our red blood cells only have a 3-month shelf life before they need to be replaced. Therefore, doing a Cleanse every 3 months keeps our most important blood cells healthier and capable of carrying more oxygen to our vital organs, which means increased energy levels, faster metabolism and easier weight control. Doing a Cleanse is also an excellent reset. It helps to re-inspire and motivate you to eat well, exercise and take good care of your body.

Key Benefits of Detoxing:

If you’re considering starting a detox program, you’ve come to the right place. There are many detox benefits that people aren’t too familiar with. The right program can make a huge difference for your life as well as the impact it can have with the people who surround you. After how good you start to feel, you’ll want to do it again and again bringing along your friends and family too.

Here are just a few of the benefits:

You Eliminate Excess Waste

The main effect of detoxing is to get rid of any harmful substances in your body. It does that by stimulating the body to “renew” itself and expel anything it doesn’t need.

The biggest differences happen in the liver, kidneys and colon because those organs combat against toxins. Filtering out these toxins, they stop them from entering the body. Well, filters need cleaning too, and that is exactly what our Step1 - 21 Day Detox & Lifestyle Change Program does.

Better Skin

Our skin looks and feels much better when it’s properly taken care of and hydrated. You can save a lot of extra cash on creams by tackling the root of the problem. Our skin, is affected by toxins.

Pores and sweat glands can so easily get clogged up. A sauna at the gym as well as a detox open up the clogs to eliminate them. Your skin becomes clearer, smoother, younger and even shinier than before. You will see less acne and irritated spots.

Better Hair

The detox benefits don’t stop with your skin. In time, because of the increased absorption and high mineral intake from your detox products, you will see that your hair will begin to re-grow and look healthier too.

The only living part of the hair is under the skin, but the way the strands develop depend on the state of your body. The fewer toxins you have, the less will end up in your hair.

It Strengthens the Immune System

Toxins bog down our whole body and make us more susceptible to illnesses and bacteria. Take them out of the equation and your immune system will regain its strength.

The detox benefits are not only internal. All our detox programs will boost your ability to resist against sicknesses.

You’ll Have More Energy

Our diet affects a huge part of our lives. If you give up junk food and other unhealthy products for just two weeks, the effects will be visible. It’s important that you replace ‘bad meals’ with fruits, vegetables, and other natural foods with the correct portions too

One of the detox benefits that you gain from going through a cleanse is a boost of energy. Sugar, trans fats, and other substances found in junk food slowly tap us out of energy. A detox diet, however, is based on things that will give everything your body needs and keep you active.

One of the biggest reasons people start their detox program is to regain energy that seems to have taken a train far, far away leaving you in zombie-like state. When our clients finish their cleanses, increased energy levels seems to always be one of the biggest excitements out of the whole program. Not only do our client’s weight decrease, but their energy comes back like a raging bull giving them a clearer mind to be able to accomplish more in a day. Our client’s finally learn what “normal” feels like. (Hint: drowsiness is not normal)

It’s a Launchpad for Healthy Habits

If you’ve never done a detox before, it may seem challenging at first. With the help and support of the Vivo team, our client’s find easing into the clean lifestyle isn;t as bad as they thought previously.  After a short time, clients realize that staying healthy isn’t hard after all.

A detox could only be the beginning of your transition to a better lifestyle. By eliminating the toxins in your body and gaining new energy, you’re all set to start other healthy activities.

If you’d like to get into exercising, a weight loss diet or other things like that, a detox is a great start.

How Long Do Detox Benefits Last?

The program isn’t just about cleansing your body of toxins. After the detox, you will see how good it feels to eat healthily. It motivates you to make a more permanent change. Beyond the cleanse are the most important days of your detox. Our clients learn the correct plate portions along with which food choices are the correct ones. With the HERN Protocol principles, our clients are able to be successful even after they complete their Lifestlye Change Program.
